The three day dialogue was jointly hosted by the Center for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) and UNMISS, who also generously funded the event, and convened on 24-26 June 2026 at Palm Africa Hotel in Juba. The dialogue was attended by representatives of civil society – including peace advocacy, youth and women's networks, COTAL, and faith-based organizations – as well as officials from national government institutions and agencies, Parties to R-ARCSS, diplomatic missions, international NGOs, and regional and international partners (e.g. UNMISS, AU, IGAD, R-JMEC). The dialogue was facilitated by experts, practitioners and academics.

Objectives

The objectives of the dialogue were as follows:

• Understand how and why implementation has failed through the "political" lens of shared state power,
• Through amicable and collaborative dialogue, consider what are the conditions under which implementation becomes more feasible and likely.
• Develop a shared understanding of the barriers and challenges of peace implementation, and:
• Arrive at more clarity as to concrete ways forward for successful implementation of R-ARCSS.

Today, Tuesday 12 May 2026, CSPS and the Sudd Institute convened a half day Roundtable Dialogue on IDRC project to discuss the following:

1. Introduce South Sudan’s partners and stakeholders to the research and work of Sudd and CSPS and the importance of supporting and utilising South Sudanese think tanks in peacebuilding efforts broadly defined.
2. Introduce partners and stakeholders to the research design and activities on increasing inclusivity and bottom-up influence on national processes and the promise of findings to have a transformative impact on peace in South Sudan.
3. Identify areas where partners can collaborate with and/or support CSPS and Sudd in implementing the “Bridging Communities” research in addition to other projects.

The meeting was attended by representatives of civil society organizations, diplomatic missions, international organizations, and think tanks.

1. To support the National Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare to develop a three-year strategic plan with at least a one-year work plan.
2. To build the capacity of staff in the state ministries of Gender, Child and Social Welfare of Eastern Equatoria, Western Bahr Al Ghazal and Unity States in order to understand the existing national polices, gender mainstreaming as well as gender budgeting processes.
3. To support the harmonization and coordination approaches to the implementation of government and international policies to which the country is signatory to.
