Prof. Moro is a Senior Research Fellow, South Sudan Center for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS). He is also a Professor of Development Studies (2022-present) and Director of the Centre for Refugee and Migration Studies (2025-present) at the University of Juba. He previously served as Director of the Directorate of Planning, Innovation and Quality Assurance (2019–2025), Director of the Institute of Peace, Development and Security Studies (2015–2019), and Director of International Cooperation and Alumni Affairs at the same university.
He holds a Doctorate in Development Studies (2008) and a Master's in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies (2004) from the University of Oxford, as well as a Master of Public Administration (1994) from the American University in Cairo.
He wrote his doctoral thesis on oil, conflict, and displacement in Sudan and primarily conducts research on conflict, displacement, and resettlement, with a focus on forced migration in the Eastern Africa region. He has published extensively on these themes.
He currently serves on the board of the Sudd Institute and is also an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Society (UK) and a Senior Research Fellow at the British Institute in Eastern Africa.
